Playing with Meanings (PwM) at

OBSERVISTA COST Action

PwM is joining a COST action Winter School in Florence, Italy, on January 22, 2026, where we will be providing an #ontologygames event, Playing with Meanings Apertif for the “Observatory of Innovative Strategies for Repurposing Terrain Vague” OBSERVISTA Action.

We will meet after hours in a local pub and play version of our newest game Work, Sheep, Repeat, built following the DOLCE ontology, that has been specifically rephrased to address urban spaces, socially produced places, and the concept of Terrain Vague. As part of the OBSERVISTA Working Group 1, which focusses on Ontology and Terminology, the PwM session will leverage the convivial "Third Place" environment of a local bar, apart from the formality of winter school activities at University of Firenze, but not quite completely at leisure. There we will unwind from the day's events and engage in some reflective practice via game and play: competitive and deeply intellectual, yet challenging, silly and fun, the #ontologygames promise an entertaining way to engage with the conference topic and WG1's emerging outcomes.

PwM hosts Greta Adamo and Max Willis would like to thank Roberta Ferrario and for helping make this special event possible.
